History

Its history backs to the Romans more than 2,000 years ago. Its original name ”Lucentum” translates as ”City of Light”.Due to its location on the Mediterranean coast, the settlers were able to trade with Greek and Phoenicians as early as 1,000 B.C. Based on archaeological remains, the settlers were known to have established small ports and traded with the foreigners.

Economy

It's economy is based largely on tourism from England, Germany, France and Netherlands and also from it's various exports such as olive oil, wine, fruit, clothing, footwear and nougat.

Good food mainly fish dishes are popular of Alicante.There are few beach bars and restaurants. There are some of the very good five Star hotels and also cheap restaurants that fits your pocket. A place that server all kind of travelers.

Alicante also boasts a spacious harbors and amongst other historical features of the city, it has the Castle of Santa Barbara (Castillo de Santa Barbara), a huge medieval fortress overlooking Alicante from the north.

It is easily accessible by a cable car up through the mountain from Jovellanas Avenue.

You could be soaking up the sun by walking around the sea and on the sand on a beautiful, spacious and long beaches.

If you are tired of the perfect, soft sand and prefer to have a rocky adventure, Cabo de las Huertas is the place for you. But if you prefer to have a private stay while having a full body tan, this is the best place for you because there are not much people who are interested to access this remote area.
